Happy Anniversary to…Me!

March 12, 2010

Cindy Donaldson, Director of Marketing & Personal Lines Sales - Founders Insurance Group

This week I celebrated my one year anniversary with Founders Insurance Group. It has been one heck of a ride!

When I first began this journey, I thought my job couldn’t possibly fill 40 hours per week. Afterall, it was insurance – how much marketing and PR could they possibly need or want? Boy, was I ever wrong!

I’ve branded, I’ve marketed, I’ve media bonded, I’ve sold, I’ve networked, I’ve created, I’ve blogged, Twitted, Facebooked…and the list goes on! Yes, it has been quite the year.

I’ve learned that insurance is a complicated business lead by highly educated people who are very passionate about their careers and their visions. I’ve learned that insurance is NOT a commodity but a very valuable part of our country’s financial security. I’ve learned that it takes a great team to accomplish what we do at Founders on a daily basis.

When I accepted my position as Director of Marketing, I thought I might get bored after awhile. (I’m laughing as I type) I also thought that insurance people were stuffy. (laughing harder now)

You see, my job is NOTHING what I thought it was going to be, and I’m loving every minute of it! I am now the Director of Marketing and Personal Lines Sales – so I not only get to tap into my creative side but I get to embrace my competitive side. I love the thrill of victory and I ignore the agony of defeat – well that’s because I don’t lose. Ok, so I get to tap into my “I’m a tad cocky” side as well.

On the agenda for 2010: Increase our brand awareness, move into new markets, knock our sales numbers out of the park and yes, try to stuff some more insurance knowledge into my middle-aged brain and whatever else should come my way.

Here’s to Founders and the adventures of the next 12 months!
